Inhibition of AR transcriptional activity by flutamide is not blocked by active Stat3. CV-1 cells were cotransfected with ARE-TATA-luciferase, AR, and Stat3C or empty vector, and treated for 36–40 h with 10 nM R1881 or 0.1% ethanol as vehicle in the presence or absence of 10 μM flutamide, in 5% charcoal stripped serum in phenol red-free DMEM. Luciferase activity was determined in cell extracts and corrected per μg of protein. Data are representative of three independent experiments. Data are expressed as mean ± S.E. of three independent experiments.
